Numerous material experiments, investigations and iterations were explored using straws to create innovative connections and dynamic spaces. Once a set system was in place, controlled manipulation allowed for variation. Controlling the difference in module lengths allowed for changes in density and form. Color was used to communicate the specific lengths and reference transitions within the pattern. Surfaces intersected and were weaved into complex and varying spaces. The ability of the pattern to mutate, bifurcate and distort allowed for distinctive spaces, diverse lighting conditions and unique colorations. The flexibility and strength of the connection along with the translucency revealed newly discovered inherent qualities in the straws.
